Join us for El Paso Book Club as we discuss I, Medusa by Ayana Gray, a feminist retelling of the Medusa myth that reimagines one of Greek mythology’s most misunderstood figures as a powerful young heroine. The novel follows Medusa as she moves from being a footnote in someone else’s story to claiming her own voice, power, and sense of justice in the face of cruelty, punishment, and the whims of the gods. If you haven’t been sure how to connect or get involved, book club is a great place to start!

This month, we’re watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a heartfelt coming-of age film that explores adolescence, friendship, and personal trauma with authenticity and emotional depth. In light of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we'll follow the screening with a discussion about how friendship & community in inclusive spaces can be a path to healing from trauma. We provide the popcorn & drinks; you bring your friends and fellow activists!

In this virtual event, medical providers, legal experts, and advocates will examine how these policies are reshaping healthcare, education, and access to information for young people and families. The conversation will explore who is harmed when lawmakers override families’ choices, how these laws affect access to care and support, and what this trend reveals about broader attacks on bodily autonomy, privacy, and decision-making.
