Herstory x PPHP Storytelling Workshop
Saturday, May 16, 12 - 4:30 p.m.
Smithtown, NY
Your story—and our collective stories—have never mattered more.
We invite you to join Herstory facilitators to excavate these stories during a half-day community writing workshop.
In this challenging moment when reproductive health choices and access to sexual health care are increasingly at risk, spaces that empower, heal, and support the collective creation of a call to action are more urgently needed than ever. During this workshop, facilitators will help you craft a scene about your unique sexual and reproductive health care that is powerful enough to draw in readers. No prior writing experience is necessary!
Shaping stories has the power to heal and empower, while sharing those stories has the power to change hearts and minds. Herstory's unique community writing circles help people create memoirs that do both.

Letter Writing for Abortion Privacy
Wednesday, May 20, 5:30 - 7 p.m.
White Plains, NY
When a health care provider treats a patient, they sometimes have access to all their medical records, even when it's not medically necessary. Too often, health care providers who stigmatize gender-affirming care and/or abortion care report patients to law enforcement, and this risk is growing. We are advocating for state legislation — S.1633 Fernandez / A.2613 Lunsford — that would allow a patient to segment certain types of sensitive medical records to prevent uncomfortable invasions of privacy and potential criminalization by hostile providers. If passed, patients seeking abortions and gender-affirming care could partition their records to protect their privacy in New York State.
Join us in White Plains to write letters to our state legislators and the governor, urging them to support this legislation to protect New Yorkers. We only have until June to get this over the finish line in the state legislature this year. As more and more people are made vulnerable by hostile politicians in our country, we must take every action possible to protect those who are most vulnerable.

Share Your Story
Every Planned Parenthood supporter and patient advocate has a story to tell as to why they support access to sexual and reproductive health care.
Stories humanize our work to show Planned Parenthood's commitment to the health and wellness of the people and communities we serve through our health care services, education programs, and fearless advocacy.
With sexual and reproductive health care under constant attack, it is essential that we share as many stories as possible to raise awareness and engage more people in our movement.
