Letters to the Governor

Tuesday, October 14

6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Kent

Here’s the good news: the New York State legislature passed three bills this session to address problems surrounding privacy and access to care. However, Governor Hochul has yet to sign them into law.

Let's use our voice and let her know that we want these bills signed!

More about the bills:

Shield Law 2.0, S.4914-B/A.5480-C, will strengthen, and fill gaps in, our state's shield laws to ensure that New York State will not be complicit in hostile states' and the Trump Administration's efforts to investigate, prosecute, or punish those who seek, provide, and support reproductive health care and gender-affirming care in New York.

New York Health Information Privacy Act, S.929/A.2141, will give New Yorkers more control over our electronic health information, like Fitbit, smartwatch, and period tracking app data, and make it harder for hostile states or the federal government to use those data to investigate, prosecute, or punish people who seek, provide, or support access to health reproductive health care and gender-affirming care in New York.

Hospital Transparency, S.3486/A.3862, will give New Yorkers the tools to find out whether the hospital in their area provides the care they need prior to admission and will assist the State in identifying care deserts where particular types of health care are completely unavailable, laying the groundwork to ensure that all New Yorkers can receive comprehensive health care regardless of their zip code.

Preconceived Film Screening

Tuesday, October 28

5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Bellport

Come join us for a screening of Preconceived (2024), a documentary focused on the rise of crisis pregnancy centers and the barriers to accessible reproductive health care they create.

Where does someone turn when facing an unplanned pregnancy? "Preconceived" is a raw and insightful look into the rise of the enigmatic crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) pervading America. Shedding light on how many of these centers are a part of a movement striving to make abortion unthinkable and illegal, the documentary explores the complex role of deception, finances, faith, and privacy.

Heightened Scrutiny Film Screening

Thursday, November 6

8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., Bronxville

Come join us for a screening of Heightened Scrutiny (2025).

"HEIGHTENED SCRUTINY follows Chase Strangio, ACLU attorney and the first out trans person to argue before the Supreme Court, as he fights a high-stakes legal battle to overturn Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth (United States v. Skrmetti).

The film exposes the dangerous role of mainstream media in fueling anti-trans legislation, uncovering how biased coverage drives hate, endangers lives, and threatens democracy itself. With insights from journalists like Jelani Cobb, Lydia Polgreen, and Gina Chua, and activists like Laverne Cox, the story dismantles anti-trans disinformation and highlights its devastating real-world impact.

With the dangerous SCOTUS decision upholding the ban on life-saving healthcare, HEIGHTENED SCRUTINY is an urgent call to action against bigotry and injustice."

Sign the Petition

Anti-reproductive health lawmakers have voted to “defund” Planned Parenthood. It’s time to make our voices heard, especially here in New York. New York has long been a leader in reproductive freedom. Without Planned Parenthood, reproductive health care access in the state is at risk.

Here is how to take action right now:
Sign the petition to tell Governor Hochul to ensure all New Yorkers have access to reproductive health care. We are urging Governor Hochul to commit to the funding necessary to ensure that all New Yorkers continue to have access to the sexual and reproductive health care they need, regardless of where they live or how much money they make.
